U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

In June 2009, Congress gave the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) broad authority to regulate tobacco products through passage of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (FSPTCA). Some aspects of the FSPTCA have already begun, and others will be phased in over the coming years.

Within the FDA, the Center for Tobacco Products oversees regulation of the tobacco industry.
